First Grade News

May 17, 2013 

Religion: The Holy Spirit is with us always. We made some nice banners that are hanging in the hall for all to see.  Mary is our Mother. Jesus asked Mary to be our Mother too.  We pray the rosary for peace in the world.

 Language Arts:  Our  story this week was Young Amelia Earhart.   We are learning how to use I and me in sentences correctly. I is used when it is part of the subject of the sentence and me is used as part of the predicate. The children have learned so many rules this year, now we need to continue to use them in our reading, writing and speaking. 

Math: Great job on the Otter Creek math facts. We are finished for this year but study through the summer because it will start up right away next year. We finished our chapter on fact families too, everyone did a great job. 

Science:  Thank you to Mrs. Angi Smith for our lesson on nutrition. She came to school to work on our posters and gave the children a  healthy snack.

This is the last story, we are reviewing everything for the whole year. Read carefully. 

We will be having a pizza lunch on Wednesday for bringing the most pennies for our penny war for the United Way. The children do not need to bring any thing that day for lunch. Remember on Thursday is our Olympic Day. Dress for the weather, please wear sneakers.
